Winchburgh New Town Centre – Works scheduled to start

The enabling works that will see West Lothian’s first new town centre since Livingston was built are set to get underway.

Work will shortly start for the delivery of the first phase of the new Winchburgh Town Centre, which will include c. 14,000 sq ft of food retail, dentist, pharmacy and fast food facilities. Additionally, this phase will include 96 affordable housing units for social rent by West Lothian Council and West Lothian Housing Partnership.

As part of the works limited tree felling is set to get underway and are necessary to implement the planning permission granted by West Lothian Council Planning Department (reference 0476/msc/14) for the infrastructure works required to deliver this first phase of the new town centre.

The trees in question are located between the new Bellway development and the bus stop adjacent to West End Cottage to the north of the road.

Road and traffic management arrangements will be in place throughout the course of the works by Realm Construction, and the developer, Winchburgh Developments, will endeavour to minimise disruption to local residents.

Enabling Works phase is planned to be completed by February 2017, and building works will then start on the serviced site for the affordable housing and retail projects.  The retail development is targeted for opening in Autumn 2017, and the affordable housing targeted to be completed in 2018.
